This is supposed to be my writing hour, but I haven't written anything so far today. I'm too distracted by following the news, right now.

That, and the fact that someone liked my story and already said they'll favorite the sequel made my afraid to write, because what if the sequel isn't good enough.

This isn't the easiest question to answer, as it really depends on the circumstances. If any of the leaked documents really have placed people's lives in danger, as some people have accused WikiLeaks of having done, then no, the website should not be protected. And as a general rule, confidentiality exists for a reason. I mean, if there was a website that was publishing people's heath records where anyone could go and read them, that website would be doing something wrong. If it was ordinary citizens' financial records that were posted on the internet that would be a bad thing.

However, on the other side of the equation, when it comes to corporations and governments, there is such a thing as accountability. Some of the things that may be revealed could ultimately lead to something being changed for the better. To look at the corporation example, on a smaller scale, that is whistleblowers are doing. They find out that a corporation is doing something illegal, and they tell the authorities. Things like that should be revealed, but maybe not necessarily on a website.

I think what I'm trying to say here is that I don't think there is really one right answer to this question. I do think WikiLeaks is in the wrong to have published the things they did, but at the same time, I can't find a definite example as to why.

I'd go back about sixteen years and sixteen or seventeen days (not quite sure how days count.) Back to February 1, 1995, and I would make a different choice than the one I made that day. And then, if I had the option of reliving my life from that point forward, I would make sure I enjoyed that rest of that school year, and the one after, so that I would have as many good memories as possible before entering the worst two years of my life. (Although, if I changed what I did, maybe some of what followed wouldn't be so bad.)

A couple of months ago I wrote a Hetalia fanfiction story about the Nordics. This morning I just posted it in my writing journal [livejournal.com profile] isethia.

I had to divide it into four parts because of the character limit per post. Here are the links to each part.

Family Secrets: Part One

Part Two

Part Three

Final Part

I'm doing a practice story to warm up for NaNo and to get used to writing about my characters. I'm also trying to see how much writing I can get done with my work schedule. My goal was 500 words in half an hour, but I decided to stop when I got the end of the scene. (I did not kind of go off topic in what I wrote, but it did give information about the setup . . . so I don't know. I guess that will have to wait until the editing stage.

I Am A: Lawful Good Human Cleric (4th Level)

Ability Scores:

Strength-12

Dexterity-11

Constitution-12

Intelligence-15

Wisdom-11

Charisma-9

Alignment:
Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.

Race:
Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.

Class:
Clerics act as intermediaries between the earthly and the divine (or infernal) worlds. A good cleric helps those in need, while an evil cleric seeks to spread his patron's vision of evil across the world. All clerics can heal wounds and bring people back from the brink of death, and powerful clerics can even raise the dead. Likewise, all clerics have authority over undead creatures, and they can turn away or even destroy these creatures. Clerics are trained in the use of simple weapons, and can use all forms of armor and shields without penalty, since armor does not interfere with the casting of divine spells. In addition to his normal complement of spells, every cleric chooses to focus on two of his deity's domains. These domains grants the cleric special powers, and give him access to spells that he might otherwise never learn. A cleric's Wisdom score should be high, since this determines the maximum spell level that he can cast.

The really funny thing is I am currently in a D and D campaign where I am playing a 4th level Lawful Good Human Cleric.

Well, it would be a difficult choice between Fanfiction.net and TV Tropes. However, if I could still visit LiveJournal, and therefore be able to read fanfiction that had been posted in journals, I would have to choose TV Tropes. There is enough stuff on that site to keep me entertained for days at a time.

My dream job would be to be an actual librarian, which I am not qualified for. I still need to get a Library Science degree. In the mean time, I am more concerned with keeping the job I have, which is at leat in the same field as my dream job. I just wish the budget situation wasn't so bad.

I like my name now, but when I was younger, I used to change my name all the time. I think one year, I went through about four different names . . . half of them from fantasy books. If I could pick a new name . . . I'm really not sure anymore. At this point, I would settle for just having an actually nickname, like my online nickname, Emma.

That would be a really hard choice to make, because I use music to inspire my story ideas, and there are a lot of different genres that I have found useful. However, as surprised as I am that I am choosing this particular answer, I would have to say rock, because that seems to be the best mood music for my stories. (The funny thing is that is it far from being my favorite genre.)

If it was making the choice without taking the need for story inspiration into account, I would choose country, which is actually my favorite music genre.

I'm not sure whether I really believe in it or not, but I did used to check my horoscope somewhat regularly. And, one time, I was convinced that I was going to have a fight with a friend because my horoscope said so. Well, that didn't happen, as far as I can remember, and I still have pretty much the same friends I had that month.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I watched the first episode of Torchwood: Children of Earth last night and cut in case of spoilers )

I think I'm going to end this entry now, that I'm starting to run out of things to say, and I want some time to look up fanfiction before I have to get ready for work.

The person I have a crush on kissed my hand yesterday. And I know it doesn't mean anything, but at the same time, it's a memory that I will treasure forever. Especially, knowing that those few moments yesterday were goodbye, even if we didn't say it.
Oh, and I got into a new fandom.

I don't know if I have a favorite single rant, but I often enjoy reading [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants. At least, when I know the fandom the poster is ranting about. Although, there have been times I discovered fandoms because they showed up on [livejournal.com profile] fanficrants.

A bacon cheeseburger. Okay, seriously, I have no idea what I would want my last meal to be. And technically, I might not know if a certain meal was going to be my last. So, my first instinct was just to go with the thing I'm most likely to order in a restaurant. I can think of a few things that I would not like in my last meal, one of which is among the strangest foods I have eaten.

The thing I would wish for the most is something that I won't know about until the end of July or later, and that is that no one at either of the libraries I work at loses their job. Since I'm not sure that counts as something I would wish for this month, and I had to chose something else, I would wish to actually see my friends more than once or twice this month.

If I counted right, I've lived in ten different places, although some of them were really close to each other. Like, I lived on the St. Leo campus for two years, but I was in a different dorm each year. Then, for a year before, and a couple of years later I lived with my parents in Dade City, then got an apartmemt in Zephyrhills. All of those places are in the same county. I've also lived in four different town in Michigan: Clare, Mt. Pleasant, Lansing, and East Lansing. One other town in Florida: Mt Dora. And I also lived in Montgomery, Alabama for a year. I'm not really sure what I would consider my favorite, because every place I've lived had thing I liked about it, and thing I didn't like. In some ways, Montgomery was probably my least favorite, but there were things I liked about it.
